Kogi Sate is celebrating their 30 years anniversary of the creation of the state and in harmony and peace
Kogi state is a home to many, We've come a long way, yet we still have a long way to go! However, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Kogi state, dubbed as a state blessed with natural resources , yet faced with some of its worst challenges in its history that have threatened the very fabrics of its existence as a state . In my thought about this, I came to one conclusion; when the common good is undermined for the good of a few groups of elites, you will by default create a pack of cards that will be unsustainable to hold us together. I usually say, the wellbeing of a society is not measured in how it cares for its elites, but in how it cares for it’s down trodden and vulnerable groups.
bad leadership is a culture, that is rooted in lack of vision or lack of long-term outlook to life. Someone said, "A people get the kind of leadership they deserve", or else we would have developed cultures rooted in sound values that will make bad leadership impossible.
As we mark this 30th anniversary, we need a new mindset, as inspired by the words of John F. Kennedy during his inaugural address, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". We need to begin to think of "baking" more "national cakes" and not "sharing" the meagre "national cake" that may soon be exhausted after 30 years of sharing!
