A fuel tanker on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway exploded, killing five people.


 "The FRSC desires to warn the motoring public of a fire incident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that happened in the early hours of today, involving a petrol tanker carrying with Premium Motors Spirit around Tunji Alegi Filling Station, Kwakyama Area of Ogere."


"This development calls for care because the leak has affected several other cars stopped on the shoulder of the road," he added.



Umar stated that five vehicles were involved in the fire and advised motorists to work with traffic managers to limit the amount of time spent stuck in traffic.



He further stated that firefighters from Sagamu, the Police Traffic Division in Ogere, and the Gateway Police Station at Old Tollgate, Ogere had been contacted.


Traffic had been redirected, he added, to avoid additional collisions and the loss of more lives and property on the route.


Motorists should seek alternate routes, according to Mr. Umar.
