Cute Abiola, a Nigerian comedian, has been held but is not missing, according to the Navy.

Despite reports that prominent Instagram comic and Nigerian Navy personnel Abdulgafar Ahmad Oluwatoyin, also known as Cute Abiola, is gone, the Naval Head of Information and Public Relations Directorate, Navy Commodore Suleman Dahun, has confirmed to The PUNCH that the comedian is detained.

In an exclusive interview with The PUNCH, Dahun said that the comedian was being held for violating the Armed Forces Social Media Policy.

"Abdulgafar is not gone, but he is detained," he stated. We have proof that he was displaying himself on social media, in violation of the Armed Forces Social Media Policy, around two weeks ago. We phoned him back while he was on leave to explain why he was breaking the Armed Forces Social Media Policy. He refused to return, which is a crime in and of itself.

"Anyone on leave can be called back." We need to know why he was displaying himself in a way that was in violation of the Armed Forces Social Media Policy. He refused to return. As a result, when he returned, we took him into jail. He is not missing; he is in custody."

Mr Macaroni, a colleague in the comedy profession, had alerted him to the possibility that Cute Abiola had gone AWOL. He went missing on Monday, November 15, 2021, after reporting to his office in Navy Town, Lagos.

"Ahmed Gafar, commonly known as The Cute Abiola; left his residence for office in Navy Town at 06:00 Am on the 15th November 2021 and came to the workplace at around 07:00 am or thereafter," read a snapshot of a WhatsApp message published by Mr Macaroni on his verified Twitter profile. He contacted his wife and associates to inform them that he had arrived at the workplace.

"Since then, his wife and other acquaintances have made repeated unsuccessful attempts to contact him." He has not returned to his family since he last communicated with his wife and associates that he had arrived to the workplace, and no one has heard from him until now.

"It was subsequently learned from a credible source that he has been held in a Nigerian Navy cell without food from arriving at the office yesterday morning till the time of posting this information, and no timetable for his release has been set."

"What's most irritating is that no one seems to know what crime he's done; all we know is that he's been held on orders from the Nigerian Navy Headquarters."

"Because Cute Abiola is an Ulcer sufferer, this tragic scenario has left his wife mentally tortured and traumatized." As a result, with the perspective in mind, not feeding an Ulcer patient as a punishment for an undeclared violation is something to be concerned about.
