Hon. Godday Samuel, A man With Different Political Ideas

The usual tone of politics and politicians in the part of the world today is that of sit-tight patriots who neither recognize man nor God as part of their existence or political dreams.

These trends can be virtually traced from local, state, and to the national political spheres in Africa at large and Nigeria in particular. We have had senators who vehemently glue to power for twenty years in Nigeria, the usual excuse is that his people still want him. Well, that is never true because such political office holders have taken advantage of their unsuspecting people to root themselves beyond the proclaimed power to the people anthem of democracy.

A little glance on the antecedent of Hon. Godday Samuel of Apa and Agatu constituency, Benue state will often leave one with utter amazement as his political ideology is quite different, Democratic, less stressful and without gross attachment to remain vehemently glue to power.

A man, who started as a staff with British airways and rose with the help of God to the seat of the house of representatives, though he had to put up enough courage to fight the so-called “powers that be” who thought power can be gotten and sustained through human wisdom and greed. Hon. Godday Samuel was victorious, after the long and stressful election process in 2019.

Hon. Godday Samuel has displayed his God-fearing heart throughout these years as he represents the good people of Apa and Agatu constituency towards greatness that is meant to be their heritage as the Peace rehabilitation.

Recently at a meeting to an ad-hoc committee in rehabilitation for the Nigeria refineries, I watched with utmost awe as people cannot maintain the thin line between politics of interest and the collective interest of their constituency. Some among the so-called educated whose reasoning faculties seem enlarged were also victims of this menace of “political foe syndrome”.

However, I was surprised at the gesture from Hon. Godday Samuel smiles broadly throughout the event, then finally took the podium to address his people.

Hon. Stood and address the issues of “politics of acrimony” a great matter of concern that has delayed Nigeria from meeting up with their political demands of the 21st century.

A political idea where it holds, “if you do not support me no good can come out of you, I won’t appreciate even if you turn my compound to a floor of gold, we are not in the same party, or religion so everything good you do is still nothing”. No wonder, opposition in Nigerian politics does not end at the field, they will do everything within their reach to make your efforts count but little, all in the name of the party and sometimes religion.

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, the 2023 general elections are just around the corner. Soon the atmosphere will be charged with politics and politicking activities.

I appeal to all politicians and their supporters to conduct themselves with the utmost sense of maturity and responsibility. Politics is not a do-or-die affair; on the contrary, it is a competition of ideologies in which citizens are allowed to make their choices freely without any inhibition or intimidation. Let the opportunity be given to individuals to vote the person of his/her choice as this is the so core value of democracy.

It is in this regard that I appeal to the great youths of Apa and Agatu to be wary of any party, any group of persons, any politician, or any individual that will try to entice them into becoming political thugs and perpetrators of election irregularities. SAY NO to such politicians! Your right is to cast your vote for the person of your choice to ensure a free and fair election come 2023.

To fellow politicians, I appeal to all of you again to endeavor to play the political game by the rules.

We must always remember that God is the ultimate giver of power. He alone decides who should lead His people. Let us, therefore, turn to Him to guide us aright in the way we conduct our political activities as we transit to a new set of leaders come 2023.

That is a heart that every Nigerian should have, we have different interests, if I do not support you may be because your views are different from mine, all of that ends during the electioneering periods, once a winner is declared and it’s fair, let’s imitates the Goodluck Jonathan style who in 2015 congratulated Buhari and made a political history recognized the world over. There is no trace of him (Jonathan) trying to jeopardize the present administration in any way, that’s wisdom.

The opposition in Apa and Agatu constituency does not see anything good in Hon. Godday Samuel’s administration proven in different social network platforms and other media propaganda are traceable to their sponsor. Now, the nearly completed oweto bridge is washed with posters of APC candidates vying for political offices.

My opinion to challenge Benue State and Apa and Agatu constituency, in particular, is to adhere Our collective peace and security demand our roles to play, and we should not trade it for anything else.

2023 will come and pass yet if God still preserves us, we will live together as one, then, why cause lasting injuries on our neighbors just for just political interests? Nigeria must be great and we have our roles to play by embracing one another with Love strictly to his political ideologies to make the 2023 general election peacefully and fair.

No doubt, Hon. Godday Samuel is a philanthropist, a politician with different ideologies whose efforts have transformed Apa and Agatu constituency into the face of the modern city.
