Sani Suleiman, a 14-year-old bandit, was apprehended by operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps' Zamfara State Command (NSCDC)
The adolescent is said to be a foot soldier for a bandit kingpin named Bello Turji, as well as a rapist.
This was revealed by A.A. Sparks, the State Commandant, during a press conference on Wednesday.
Suleiman, he claims, was apprehended in Kadage village, Moriki Emirate, Zurmi Local Government Area.
According to Sparks, an investigation revealed that the
teenager was trained in the use of weapons by one Salihu Gang at Sububu forest.
He said the boy confessed that he participated in cattle
rustling and kidnapping activities.
“Salihu Gang is said to be a foot soldier of a notorious
armed bandit known as (Bello) Turji that has been terrorising the entire
northwest zone,” Sparks said.
According to him, the boy confessed that he had been raping
women brought to their camps.
He, however, said investigation was still ongoing and that
the boy would be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation was completed.
Similarly, the corps apprehended ten illegal miners at Matuzgi village in the state's Talata-Mafara Local Government Area.
The arrested miners are suspected of being bandits in the state.
"In the early hours of Wednesday, February 9th, 2022, the men of the corps raided the illegal mining site, where about 9 bags of raw precious stones were confiscated by the corps special strike force and brought to the command," he said.
Some of the exhibits recovered from the site included shovels, diggers, and hammers, according to him.
